In 1989, the well-known international electronic company, Bang & Olufsen (B&O) placed a large order at Stansefabrikken.
In 1989, Stansefabrikken started a new department; from just punching and a little extra production such as welding and assembly, to powder painting. In a very short time, Stansefabrikken became the best player in the powder coating market, in large parts thanks to and with the assistance of Bang & Olufsen (B&O); which had become a customer in 1987. B&O is world-renowned for its unique product design and high-quality products.
B&O had decided to replace the traditional wet painting of their products with the much more surface-resistant technique of powder painting, and chose Stansefabrikken to become their expert supplier in this area.
B&O was heavily involved in the start-up process, and even placed one of their own quality engineers in Lillesand for months, in order to train Stansefabrikken’s staff.
The size of the B&O order; more than 20 mill NOK, made B&O Stansefabrikkens largest customer, and made further expansion and investment possible. This gave Stansefabrikken a new dimension that will affect the company in many years to come.
